   East Haddam Land Trust

East Haddam Land Trust depends on volunteers, or stewards, to keep preserves accessible and to monitor vegetation and wildlife activity.

Stewardship comes in many forms - participating in Work Parties, notifying EHLT of an issue during visits to a Preserve, or actively overseeing a specific Preserve and recording observations as an EHLT Steward on EHLT's Inspection Report.

Work Parties-Stewardship Saturday:

planned the 3rd Saturday of each month (except in July and August). Volunteers gather at a specific Preserve to clear and mark trails, create new trails, clear storm- or age-damaged trees and vegetation, manage invasive vegetation, pick up trash, or maintain/build foot bridges.

Stewardship Saturday details are emailed to EHLT contacts and posted on the EHLT Facebook page.

EHLT Preserve Stewards:

visit and regularly to note trail and trail marker conditions, hazards, wildlife and/or invasive vegetation, as well as other observations. Drop us a note if you are interested.

Using EHLT Preserves:

during visits you can help by simply picking up and removing any trash and clearing fallen branches from trails.
