The Anita Ballek/East Haddam Land Trust Scholarship Fund:
is awarded to one graduating senior from Nathan Hale-Ray High School who has demonstrated civic mindedness and submits an essay on why he or she intends to pursue environmental studies.
The Stewardship Fund:
supports EHLT preserve maintenance and signage. In 2012, we built a bridge to extend the trails in our Sheepskin Hollow Preserve. In 2015 we purchased and began installing new signs at all EHLT preserves and raised funds for and helped build a footbridge across the Eightmile River on the East Haddam portion of a new, 10-mile, multi-town linear trail in partnership with local conservation organizations and updating needed trail maintenance equipment.
The Land Acquisition Fund:
for EHLT land purchases and conservation easements, to support Town of East Haddam Open Space purchases and, occasionally, support the purchase of other key parcels that preserve portions of the Connecticut River Valley. During 2013-2015 Capital Campaign, Land Acquisition donations are considered Capital Campaign donations.
The Calendar Fund:
supports the annual East Haddam Land Trust Nature Calendar featuring beautiful drawings (over 250) of nature scenes created by local school children and residents and daily nature notes. Each year 5000 calendars are distributed to all land trust members and contributing artists, and at a variety of East Haddam locations. The calendar effort is supported entirely through donations to this fund and volunteer time (not membership funds).
The General Fund:
directed by EHLT's board of directors to wherever the need is greatest.
